How to Transfer Your UB Funkey to Another Computer
Filed Under UB Funkeys Info |
At some point in time with your kids’ usage of UB Funkeys they are either going to want to move their game to another computer, or you are going to buy a new computer for them, or for whatever reason you will need to move their funkeys account. While this would seem to be a very simple thing to do with your ubfunkey, the reality is that it is not. UB Funkeys is a fairly new phenomonen and there are many things that are not documented well, either in their own manuals, online or in the “Google Community” as I like to call it. Kids love their UB Funkeys but when they all of a sudden can’t play anymore because there is a new computer in the house then that can cause trouble!
I ran across someone today who has posted the steps for how to do this very easily, however. These steps are from Zain:
Why? Well, basically moving a character profile is a pain in the butt because there aren’t any guides on how to move your new character from one computer to another! This product’s so new, there’s no forum on it. Luckily, I’m the type of person with enough PC experience and also persistence to work something like this out. So moving the character data from my “work machine” to the “home machine” (where it should’ve been installed in the first place!) only took about an hour once I’d had a proper look at the set up of the folders…
Anyway, if you do find you need to move your Funkey character from one PC to another then don’t despair. It *is* possible to do. Initially, my little boy was disappointed because he’d played for a couple of hours and bought a few things for his “crib”. Installing the game on the home machine, we found that moving the character over was a little tricky and we thought we had to start over from the beginning.
Not so.
Here’s how you do it:
Go to: C:\Program Files\U.B. Funkeys\RadicaGame\data\
Inside this folder you should find your character profile name as a folder (i.e. \YourFunkey’sName\ at the end).Copy your character folder (most importantly, the “profile.rdf” file that’s inside this folder) to your other machine. The location must be the same.
Go to C:\Program Files\U.B. Funkeys\RadicaGame\data\system
Copy the “users.rdf” file from the first PC to the \system\ folder of the one you want the game to run on.And that’s it. You’re all done and the UB Funky game should now run properly and give you the choice of characters in your “login” screen.
That’s an awesome UB Funkeys trick Zain - thanks for the tip!

Do you know why brand new funkeys might stop working? We get the “there’s something wrong with UB” message all the time. Does anyone know if I need a new UB or how I can make the guys work?
answer to question=
No, you don’thave to buy a new hub. To get the funkey working all you have to do is to keep moving the funkey.
The two files have different locations on Windows Vista (the ones under C:\Program Files\… are apparently not in use):
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\U.B. Funkeys\RadicaGame\data\\profile.rdf
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\U.B. Funkeys\RadicaGame\data\system\users.rdf
Substitute with your Windows Vista user name, and with your U.B. Funkeys character profile name.
I notice that the more the A/C or Heat is running the drier the air is, Funkeys don’t make as good of contact. Sometimes I just use a moist finger to wipe the contacts on the Funkey and that usually makes solid contact. It is just because the Funkey feet get dirty contacts from sitting on the table and such. Cleaning them periodically helps minimize the problem.
